Facts on Laser Blepharoplasty

Laser Blepharoplasty | Eyelid Surgery Procedure

Another effective and modern way to correct eye appearance problem is through Laser Blepharoplasty. The objective of laser blepharoplsty is to give a more youthful and revitalized eye appearance by reducing the droopiness of the skin all over the eyes. This is one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries of this time.

Laser blepharoplasty will greatly improve not just the appearance of the eye but also its function as it can improve poor vision caused by sagging upper eyelid. Also, the surgery can be performed in an outpatient setting using more advance technology. The procedure only requires a short period of time which reduces the entire cost plus the recovery period is also shortened.

Laser Blepharoplasty Procedure

Laser Blepharoplasty is normally done in an out-patient set-up. The patient will be under local anesthesia to endure the incisions made through laser’s beam. With laser blepharoplasty, patient will only have few bruises which mean faster recovery.

Fat deposits will be removed and the cuts will be closed in a way that the eyes will have more enhanced look using a very small sutures which can be removed after at least 6 days. The surgical procedure would usually run for an hour or more depending on the comprehensiveness of work and the amount of time required completing the procedure.

Post-Surgery Recovery

Since laser blepharoplasty is coupled with some incisions, having scars is inevitable. For the first week following the surgery, the incisions must be treated using an ointment to keep the wounds lubricated. Usually, the scars would go away after several weeks unlike the scars brought by traditional blepharoplasty that don’t just go away that easy.

Using cold compress is also good. It should be positioned in the eyes to decrease the level of swelling. Also, it is expected that the eyes would go dry thus, using an eye drop would help keep the eyes’ moisture.

The span of time needed to fully recover from laser blepharoplasty is shorter compared to traditional eyelid surgery and its good result is long lasting. It may be permanent in some cases depending on the condition of the patient. However it is still possible that with the patient’s activities, way of life and age touch-up procedure in the future may be necessary.
