Breast reconstruction surgery can be performed by utilizing tissue expander before placing an implant. Breast implant comes in different types, sizes and shapes. The most popular however are silicon and saline breast implants. There were other implants being made-up but the materials used are different like the gummy bear implant. This type of implant is leak-resistant as it is developed by the use of cohesive silicone gel and carries the constancy of gummy bears.

However, implants made up of cohesive gel were not approved by FDA or Food and Drug Administration not unless it is used for medical trials. Another alternative for breast reconstruction is by using the patient’s own tissues usually obtained from areas at the back, buttocks and belly to restore the appearance of the breast. Though it could be a good method to use, there is a possibility that the surgery would still require an implant.

There are some instances where the patient is unhappy with the outcome of the breast reconstruction and is requesting for another surgery to enhance the result. A board certified cosmetic surgeon is the best doctor to handle this concern as they have wider understanding on cosmetic surgery.
