Tumescent Liposuction Explained

Tumescent Liposuction

Many surgeons believed that the most efficient and safe method of surgical liposuction is Tumescent liposuction. To describe safe surgical procedure, it is a surgical process that uses huge amount of local anesthesia to alleviate not just pain but also to decrease bleeding, swelling as well as skin abnormalities. Also, sufficient anesthesia canmake the whole process run smoothly.

Tumescent Liposuction Process

In today’s generation, tumescent liposuction surgery is very popular and believed to be very effective because this type of liposuction can actually wipe out certain side effects that are unwanted in some liposuction procedure. Although tumescent liposuction technique is performed in the same way as conventional liposuction, there are still some few differences in its method.

The Benefits

The main benefit of tumescent liposuction is the dramatic decrease of unwanted byproducts of liposuction. This is made possible because tumescent liposuction utilizes anesthetic solution which can temporarily decrease the capillary size. In effect, there will be significant reduction of blood loss in the course of the surgery. Also, pain, swelling as well as bruising is also reduced following the surgery. Not to mention, nausea and vomiting can be also avoided since general anesthesia is not in use.

Risk Associated with Tumescent Liposuction

Risks and complications are definitely unavoidable in any surgery. True enough, because in tumescent liposuction, complications can also occur. However, there are two risks that can be only linked to tumescent liposuction and these are fluid accumulation and lidocaine toxicity.

There is a possibility that fluids will accumulate particularly in the lungs when solutions are injected in large amount into the parts that needs some treatment. On the other hand, Lidocaine toxicity will arise if the quantity of lidocaine present in the tumescent liquid is extremely high. This is because it is very hard for our body to effectively absorb the drug.
